Jenna Burkert’s Journey From The World Stage An Oklahoma High School

Jenna Burkert’s Big Move: From World Champion to Coaching in Oklahoma

Jenna Burkert, a wrestling star with a World bronze medal, decided to start a new chapter in her life. After retiring from wrestling last year, she wasn’t sure what to do next. But soon, she found her answer in a small town called Bixby, Oklahoma.

Jenna was inspired when she watched Bixby High School’s girls’ wrestling team win a super-close state championship. That’s when she decided to move there and help coach the team.

Now, Jenna works as the associate head coach for the girls’ team and also teaches leadership classes. She loves helping young wrestlers chase their dreams, just like she did when she was younger.

“When I was 15, my coach treated me with so much respect,” Jenna said. “I want to do the same for my students.”

Bixby may be a small town, but Jenna is happy there. “As long as there’s a coffee shop, I’m good!” she said with a smile.

Makeup Meets Wrestling: Girls Shine at Wonder Women Tournament

Wrestling got a little more sparkly this January! The Wonder Women Wrestling Tournament in Missouri became the first girls’ wrestling event sponsored by a makeup brand—e.l.f. Cosmetics.

Over 630 wrestlers from six states competed in the big event. e.l.f. Cosmetics set up fun makeup stations where wrestlers and fans could get their makeup done and grab free goodies.

Helen Maroulis, an Olympic wrestling champion, also joined the event to inspire the girls. “You can be strong and girly at the same time,” she said.

e.l.f. even offered scholarships for high school wrestlers who wrote essays about their goals. It was a great way to show that girls can be tough, fabulous, and unstoppable on and off the mat!

Super Sisters Win Big in Wrestling

Meet Violette Lasure and Juliet Alt, two sisters from Pennsylvania who are rocking the wrestling world!

At the Powerade Tournament, Violette, a sophomore, won her sixth title, while Juliet, a freshman, grabbed her fifth. These sisters have a combined total of 11 Powerade wins—wow!

On the mat, they’re both fierce competitors. Off the mat, they’re totally different. “Violette is quiet and loves fishing. I talk a lot and love shopping!” Juliet said with a laugh.

What they share is an unbreakable bond. Their favorite memories include cheering for each other during big matches, like the Fargo finals and Tulsa Nationals.
